Pauri

Situated
at an elevation of 1814 mts. above sea - level on the northern slopes of
Kandoliya hills, Pauri is headquarter of the district
Pauri Garhwal and Garhwal Division.
Pauri provides a panoramic view of the snow clad
Himalayan peak of
Bandar Poonch, Swarga Rohini, Jonli, Gangotri Group, Jogin Group Thalaiya -
Sagar, Kedarnath, Kharcha Kund, Sumeru, Satopanth, Chaukhamba, Neelkanth,
Ghauriparvat, Hathiparvat, Nanda Devi and Trisul.
Kandoliya
At a distance of 2 kms. from Pauri,
Kandoliya is a spectacular spot spot surrounded by dense forest. The
tample of Kandoliya Devta, a picnic park is developed here
and an Indoor Stadium is located. here. One can have a panoramic view of
Himalayan peaks and Gangwarsyun Valley and can enjoy sun
set. In summer most of people come here to see sun set. A walk along 4 kms.
long road from Kandoliya to Buwakhal through Oak and Pine forests is realy
refreshing.
Kyunkaleshwar Mahadev Temple
The beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva
and constructed in the 8th centuary A.D., is only 3 kms. away from the main
town. From here one can have a clear view not only of the lofty Himalayan
peaks, but also of Srinagar valley and other
small places around Pauri.

Khirsu
Khirsu is a very beautiful town and the adjoining thick
oak and deodar forests make it more serene. The apple orchards are a big
attraction here. The snow-laden mountains of Khirsu are a
major attraction in winters. In summers one can get a clear view of the
central Himalayas from Khirsu from where
300 named and unnamed peaks are visible. Khirsu is located
19 kms from Pauri and is at a height of 1700 Mts.
Joshimath
He snow - laden mountains of Khirsu
tempt the tourist in winters, while the panoramic view of Central Himalayas
attracts tourists in summers, when one can get a clear view of 300 named and
unnamed peaks. Located 19 kms. away from Pauri at an altitude of 1700 mts.
Khirsu is a peaceful spot free from pollution. The
tranquility of the adjoining thick Oak and Deodar forests and apple
orchards, is only broken by chirping birds. The ancient temple of Ghandiyal
Devta in the vicinity is well worth a visit.
Ulka Garhi/ Chaubhatta Khal
Situated on Pauri - Khirsu motor road
and 2 kms. short of Khirsu is Chaubhatta Khal, there is a
2 km. easy trek to the temple. This place commands a magnificent view of
mountain and valleys at an altitude of 1900 mts.
