Ranakpur

Ranakpur
is located in the mountain ranges of Pali district, 23 kms. away from the
Phalna railway station. Ranakpur is reached after passing lush green valleys
and streams and the heart capturing views drive away any fatigue of the
journey. The Ranakpur Jain Temple were built during the reign of the liberal
and gifted monarch Rana Kumbha in the 15th century. An enormous basement
covers 48,000 sq. feet area. There are four subsidiary shrines, twenty four
pillared halls and eligibly domes supported by over four hundred columns.
The total number of columns is 1,444 all of which are intricately carved no
two being alike. The artistically carved nymphs playing the flute in various
dance postures at a height of 45 feet are an engrossing sight. In the
assembly hall, there are two big bells weighing 108 kgs. whose sound echoes
in the entire complex.

The Chaturmukh Jain Temple
This temple, which is also known as the 'Four Faced' temple, is dedicated
to the venerated Tirthankara Rishabhji. The Chaturmukhi Jain temple sprawls
over an area of 48,000 sq. feet and is open on all four sides. The complex
comprises of 29 halls and 1,444 intricately carved pillars. One of the most
famous temples in Ranakpur, this beautiful temple is a must visit site if
you travel to Ranakpur.
Desuri
Desuri is famous for its three Jain temples dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord
Hanuman and Navi Mata. Other attractions located in this picturesque site
include an old mosque, which is also worth a visit.
Parshvanath Temple
The marble temple of Parshvanath is also known as the 'Patriyon ka Mandir'.
The temple, which is famous for its black stone image of the Jain saint
Parsvanath was built in the mid 15th century. Surrounded by high hills, this
beautiful temple is also famous for its pierced stone windows with
ornamental designs. Besides, there are many other beautiful temples and

By Air
The nearest airport is the Dabok Airport in Udaipur that is 110 km away.
By Rail
Falna, which is 35 km away, is the nearest railhead, which is on the Delhi-
Ahmedabad sector.
By Road
A network of buses run from Ranakpur to nearby places. Besides, four daily
deluxe buses connect Udaipur with Ranakpur. You can also hire cabs from
Udaipur. To commute locally you can easily find a number of un-metered auto-
rickshaws and cycle rickshaws.
